I haven't done one of these in a while and for some reason I'm really into Valentine's Day ideas right now. I don't often care much, but this year I do. Who knows? Maybe I feel like there's a need to celebrate love and massacre.
So here is a list of a few things I've been coveting, maybe you can buy one for yourself or someone else. *Don't be the wrong kind of creepy about it, ok?
First, chocolate. Which came into favor in Victorian times as a way to be forward, but not too forward as chocolate was exotic and pricey. Same for flowers and perfume. Nuts were also a favorite since they were expensive. It was the proper objects of affection to show interest and to tread lightly because EVERYTHING could be mistaken as a marriage proposal.
I picked a chocolate heart box after doing research about vegan Valentine's Day chocolate. The heart box is like the ones I used to get from my mom when I was a little kid. You can find them here: Ethereal Confections
And of course, roses. I picked this one for long-lasting love and the glass display cloche is very Victorian. Find it at Apollo Box.
If you've gotten more serious then jewelry is the way to go. I picked this ring as sacred hearts were a big thing in Mexico where I spent a lot of time when I was younger. They symbolise eternal love, devotion, and sometimes even miracles. Available here: Bloodmilk Jewels
You'll need something in which to write your adorations and affections, whispers and notes. In a shameless self-promotion, allow me to proffer my own shop with lots of cards for these poems brimming on your heart.
Such as A Kiss is so Complicated (which is available as many products):
Or just keep it simple with a glass of bubbly and Paris.
And you'll need to set the mood if you're feeling really confident. How about these amazing sheets?
And for music a modern gramophone. Which has been on my ETSY wish list forever. I'm not sure why I haven't bought one yet...
SO now you're set here. Next week I'll make a list of places to eat and things to possibly cook. Depending what you're into and where your skill set lies.
